Change in workforce management tool deployment due to Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms is modifying traditional Software implementation by moving from traditional software architectures to a unique Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
In traditional software architecture, a project is defined as the delivery of a single new application (unique product creation). In SOA, a project is defined as the delivery of integrated services which is more close to the delivery of a benefit for an organisation. This modify the team’s roles and responsibilities (from the design to the user) and this will also modify the Business Process Management approach by the opportunity for companies to deal more with models based on mobility (Wifi, 3G, PDA, …).
This paper will focus on the main impacts of these technologies at the project level (which kind of management are we speaking about : project or program management and why?).
The main sectors for SaaS technology are CRM application and field force management. This paper will focus on new opportunities like the maintenance providers sector which is a 24/7 industry that equates the business needs with safety and quality expectations for people who are involved in ground operations and lead by workforce management tool.
We can understand that mobility and technologies influence team behaviour. These new software application platform will need program management approach to be implemented.
